Halloween - Super Calvin to the Rescue!

It's Halloween weekend! Phil was going to dress Calvin up like a burrito so he could get a free burrito at Chipotle, but it turns out they didn't have that promotion this year. Instead you had to dress up like some processed food, like a chicken mcnugget. So, no Chipotle and no baby burrito costume for Calvin (thank goodness). Luckily his Aunt Winnie bought him a nice halloween costume. Before we got him all dressed up we put him in one of his Spiderman onesies.

And then out came the Superman costume. Phil liked the idea that he was Superman on the outside and Spiderman on the inside. Look it's a baby superman!

Super Calvin is getting ready to fly!

With Calvin all dressed up we headed into Chinatown to have lunch with Phil's family. His cousin, Alex, was in town and wanted a chance to meet Calvin. We ended up going to Congee Village, a long time favorite. Between eating and juggling Calvin, you only get one food picture this time ^__^ - noodles, pineapple fried rice, and Chinese donuts.

After lunch Kevin took a swing at being Superman. Somehow its hard to be taken seriously when your cape is so short...

When we were ready to leave we got Calvin into his little carrier and he was out like a light.

After Congee Village we headed back to the Hester Street fair. It was officially the last weekend they were open before they closed up for the winter. There was a Mexicue truck parked on the street outside the fair that was selling Mexican-style barbeque sandwiches - pulled pork, etc.

I don't remember what they ordered, but I had a bite of the pulled pork sandwich and it was really good. They even gave us a sandwich for free because they accidentally made an extra one.

Of course Phil still wasn't satisified, so he stopped by one of the stands at the fair to order a bowl of chili.

Before we left we made a stop at our favorite stand - Melt Bakery. It was a little chilly for ice cream sandwiches, but they had just added fried apple and pumpkin pies to their menu - made fresh on the spot! We ordered a fried pumpkin pie and took it back to Lucia's apartment to enjoy. It was covered in sugary goodness.

And of course Calvin couldn't go a day without pooping on himself, so he got to get dressed up in a nice new outfit. I think he was glad to finally be rid of that Superman outfit.

Once we got him bundled up and into the car seat he was out again. He falls asleep any where and any time. I wonder where he gets that from... ^__~

Calvin Meets Cousin Madeline

After spending the day in Chinatown we drove back to Jersey and headed to my sister's place for dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday. It was Calvin's first time meeting his cousin Madeline. Calvin is only 1 month older than Maddy, but he seems so much bigger. He looks like he could swallow her whole in this picture. I guess that's what happens when you're in the 75th percentile...

My mom loves sushi, so we ordered from a place called Mr. Pi's.

Maddy was sleeping in her nice comfy baby swing when we first arrived. She looks so peaceful.

Proud grandma holding her grand-daughter. Maddy seems so surprised to see her for some reason...

Feeding time with daddy.

While we were at the Hester Street fair earlier that day I had stopped by a fundraising booth selling baked goods to benefit the Susan G. Koman for the cure and bought a box of "Madelines" for Madeline ^__^

The box is almost bigger than she is!

After dinner we had dessert. It was a fruit tart from Wegman's. The lady that sold it to us promised that it was really good, and she wasn't lying. It was delicious! Definitely the best tart I've ever had.

And just in case the fruit tart wasn't enough we bought some cannolis as well. We're all about the desserts!

Calvin was sitting at the table with Phil. Probably wondering when he can start having some yummy desserts too.

Calvin's First Trip to Chinatown

This weekend we took Calvin out on his first trip into Chinatown. We got him dressed in his Rocky outfit. Now he and Phil can match!

We met up with Phil's sister, Winnie, and his cousin, Lucia, at Yogee Restaurant on Chrystie Street. I think the last time we were here was almost a year ago. Calvin is all ready with his bib to chow down! Too bad all he gets is milk. ^__^

This was Winnie's last time to see Calvin before heading back to school.

It looks like Lucia is ready to fight with Calvin. Phil seems completely oblivious though. Poor Calvin...

Aw, much better. Calvin always wins with his cuteness every time.

And of course we had to take some picture of the food. Although it gets harder to remember when you have to handle the baby at the same time. We ordered the beef stew with the thick noodles again.

And some noodle soups and fried noodles.

After lunch we met up with my mom at the Hester Street fair. This might be our last visit to the fair before it closes for the winter. Look how snug Calvin looks in his little carrier - completely fast asleep.

Even though it was kind of chilly we had to get another ice cream sandwich since it might be our last chance. This time we got the molasses cookie with pumpkin ice cream. It was delicious as always. Cold, but delicious.

Calvin entertained himself with his aunt Winnie and cousin Lucia while we ate.

Auntie Winnie

Phil's sister, Winnie, just started Grad school in North Carolina, but took a short break to come up and visit her new nephew. She seemed a little unsure about holding Calvin at first, but she got the hang of it. Calvin seems confused as to who this new person holding him is. He'll have more opportunities to spend time with and get to know Auntie Winnie as he gets older.

Baby Madeline - Day 2

Phil and I went to go visit my sister again on her second day in the hospital. Tam's siblings were there visiting as well when we arrived. Tam's older brother was a little hesitant to hold a newborn, but we eventually talked him into it.

Maddy looks so peaceful in her sleep.

And here's the now proud grandmother of 2 - both a grandson and a granddaughter. You know what that means - lots of dirty diapers that need changing ^__~

Even Uncle Phil got a chance to hold his new niece. After carrying Calvin, who has been getting bigger and bigger every day, Maddy seemed so light. It's almost hard to imagine that Calvin was once that tiny not too long ago.

Baby Madeline

My niece has finally arrived! She was born a few days late, but ended up arriving on the same day as my sister's wedding anniversary. Baby Madeline is 7lbs 8 oz. and 21 inches long - just a little bit bigger than Calvin was when he was born. Here she is only a few hours out of the womb - isn't she cute? And check out that full head of hair!!

She was much more of a crier than Calvin was when he was first born, so we know she has good set of lungs on her. But after crying through her first bath she let us know she was doing "OK". ^__^

I got to give Maddy her first red envelope. Now I get to be a mommy and an Auntie! And Calvin will finally have someone to play with.

First photo of the happy family.

Gulino's & Su-Kyi's Birthday Party

We had some friends from Ohio come visit us this weekend. But before they arrived I decided to take Calvin on his first walk with my mom. He was a little fussy getting into the car seat part, but was out like a light as soon as we started moving. He looks so cute all bundled up and sleepy.

We took a walk around the park across the street from our house and then headed towards Main Street to look for some lunch. They had opened a new pizza place called Gulino's not too far from our house, on the farther end of Main Street. It was a nice day, so we decided to eat outside.

They had fresh panini sandwiches, so my mom and I both ordered one. I got a small chicken and pesto, and my mom got a large chicken and roasted peppers. The large was basically 2 whole sandwiches. My mom's eyes were definitely bigger than her stomach and she ended up having to take half of it home. The sandwiches were really good. They took a little long to make, but worth the wait.

That evening May and Anthony arrived with their daughter, Su-Kyi. This was their first time meeting Calvin.

I think Su-Kyi was a little jealous of Calvin when May wanted to hold him, but she finally gave in later in the night. Although she still doesn't look to happy about it. When we asked her if she wanted any brothers and sisters she said very emphatically, "No!". Don't worry, Su-Kyi, you're still mommy's little girl. ^__^

Su-Kyi's 3rd birthday is coming up at the end of the month, so Phil (aka Uncle Phil) had bought her a little Baskin Robbin's ice cream cake along with a present. He even splurged and bought little Dora the Explorer cake toppers.

Su-Kyi looks so excited for birthday cake.
