Princeton Luncheon

To celebrate the start of spring, my cousins, William and Nora, were hosting a pot luck luncheon at their house in Princeton. First Mandy and I stopped off with the hubbies and the babies to visit my brother-in-law's cousin, Thanh. She has a son, Van, whose only 2 months older than Calvin and she just moved into our town.

Of course whenever Calvin goes over to someone else's house he always has to try out their toys. Van has a little walker so that he can scoot around the house. Calvin seemed to like it until I busted out the camera to take pictures.

Van looked so cute with his hair all spikey.

He even knew how to high-five. So cute!

Maddy was there too, just chilling out with her daddy.

Our next stop was my cousin William's house in Princeton for a "Welcome Spring" pot luck lunch. There was some good food - lobster macaroni, some kind of wrapped asparagus that was super yummy, fruit salad, and other food I can't remember anymore...

Phil tried to get Calvin to play with some of the bigger kids, but mostly he just sat around looking confused.

Cousin Maddy

We took Calvin on a trip to visit his cousin, Maddy. Maddy has already mastered the art of rolling and was chilling on her belly in her playmat when we arrived. Calvin hasn't really gotten the roll down just yet. They do always say that girls mature faster than boys!

Calvin got to say hi to his Uncle Tam and Aunt Mandy, who both affectionately call him "gigantor".

Maddy and mommy.

Maddy used to be super skinny, but recently has started to pudge out a little more, which just makes her that much cuter! She was kind enough to show off some of her arm and leg chub. No more chicken legs for this little one ^__^

While Maddy showed off some leg, Calvin helped himself to trying out all of Maddy's new toys. First he tried out her door hanging jumper. It's a similar concept to the jumper that he has, but instead of being free standing it hangs off a door frame. He did not like the door hanging jumper very much...if you look closely you may see a tear...

He then tried her exer-saucer. He didn't seem too amused by that one either...even though mommy and daddy found it very entertaining. Who wouldn't be entertained by all those bright shiny toys!

Maddy just sat quietly in her Bumbo seat watching Calvin fuss and squirm.

Dim Sum and Bao Fries

On Saturday we headed back into the city with Calvin to have dim sum with Phil's godmother and her family. It had been a couple months since the last time she saw Calvin so we were due for a get together. We bundled Calvin up into his car seat again. He has that "Oh, mom, not another picture" look on his face. Phil's godmom's kids were there, John and Jennifer. John had come all the way from San Francisco to visit. I think Phil's godmom was trying to hint to her kids that she was ready for some grandkids of her own. But they seemed quite content just playing with Calvin. For the most part Calvin seemed Ok having John and Jennifer hold him. I think it was because half the time he didn't realize who was holding him. After a while he finally figured out to look behind him. After dim sum Phil headed to the eye doctors to see about doing Lasik eye surgery while Calvin and I went on a walk with Phil's cousin, Lucia. On our way back to her apartment we were going to stop by the Doughnut Plant and pick up some donuts, but the line was insanely long. The line for the Doughnut Plant is usually long, but I'd never seen it that long before. We guessed they probably aired a rerun on the Food Network or something. According to Lucia they're opening a second location somewhere else in NY. Calvin was exhausted from all of the excitement at the dim sum restaurant, so after just a few blocks of walking he was out like a light. Since we didn't want to go back empty handed we decided to stop by the Bao Haus for some bao fries (sweet fried slices of Bao served with Taro dipping sauce). For some reason every time I've gone to Bao Haus the wait for your food is always really long, even if there aren't actually that many people there. But I still keep going back, if for nothing else than to support my fellow Taiwanese American ^__^ Back at Lucia's apartment Calvin got to open a new present from his aunt Winnie. I wonder when we should tell him that he's supposed to play the keyboard with his hands and not his feet...
