Some of the cousins whipped up some more food for breakfast - turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, tater tots and donuts (ok, so the donuts were store bought, but everything else was fresh!)
Now that Calvin has started rolling we didn't feel comfortable leaving him on the bed by himself for nap time, so we had to settle for a make-shift bed constructed of giant pillows stacked on top of each other to try and prevent him from breaking out and rolling himself into trouble. I don't think he minded though - he loves pillows!
Originally a big group was supposed to go on a snorkeling trip, but it got cancelled due to rough water, so instead there was a little bit of time spent on the surprise wedding dance for Lea and Wally...more to come on that later, but here's a sneak preview...
Then we all went on a boat ride in lieu of the snorkeling. It was a shame about the snorkeling, but nice because that meant Calvin and I were able to join everyone. The captain was very friendly.
Calvin's first time at sea! This was definitely a big vacation of firsts for Calvin.
Everybody was trying to avoid the heat. I guess the sun hats just didn't provide enough cover.
Grandpa offered him a beer to help him cool down...Sorry, still a little too early for that Calvin!
Then not too long after he was passed out. I think it was the rocking of the boat, probably reminded him too much of the womb.
In the meantime everyone else stretched out along the boat enjoying the sun and the beautiful view.
I think Calvin was relieved to finally be out of the water - nice and dry wrapped in his little pink beach towel.
For dinner we went to a restaurant called Pisces that we had found online. It was a big group of people - basically all of the adults and most of the cousins (minus the bride, groom and immeidate family).
A bunch of people ordered the lobster bisque soup, but that turned out to be not such a good choice - not unless you like cognac. The entire soup tasted like nothing but cognac. It was actually kind of hard to drink, which was too bad.
After the soup they had a little palate cleanser - lemon sorbet. I think I recall Phil making a "Princess Diaries" reference when this came out, which I thought was hilarious.
Phil ordered the shrimp. I didn't have any of the shrimp, but the sauce was delicious.
I ordered the peppercorn steak. The peppercorn was a little bit overpowering. That seemed to be the theme of the night. Overall the food was only so-so. I definitely don't think I'd go back, especially considering the price, but we didn't really eat out at a lot of restaurants while we were there, so I don't have much of a point of reference either.
After the boat ride we headed back to the house and everyone took a quick dip in the pool. Even Calvin hopped in for his first swim. We brought some of his bath toys just so he'd have something familiar to play with. He was pretty scared at first and only stayed on the stairs.
But after he got a little more used to the water he ventured a little bit farther out, holding on to daddy for dear life of course. I think Phil's ears were pretty stretched out after that.
