Put-In-Bay Part 1

This weekend we took a trip back to Ohio. Phil had to go for work, so I decided to tag along and visit friends. We spent the weekend with our friends Rebecca, Steve, May, Anthony and baby Su-Kyi.

It was a jam packed weekend full of eating.
Phil and I were supposed to arrive Friday night around 11, but because of delays didn't end up getting there until around 2am. First thing in the morning on Saturday we headed over to May and Anthony's where we all piled into Anthony's gigantic truck and made our way to Put-In Bay.

Put-In Bay is one of the Bass Islands in Lake Erie. It's a popular place for people in the Ohio/Cleveland area to go for fishing, boating, or just sight-seeing around the island.

I don't think this is actually the Put-In-Bay island, but it was a nice view from the shore before we made our way to Put-In-Bay.

First we had to hop onto a boat to get us to the island.
Steve, May, Anthony and Phil are all ready to get on the boat. But where's baby Su-Kyi? I think she might be hiding behind Uncle Steve.

Here I am with Rebecca looking cool in our shades.

This was the ferry we took over to the island.

Once we got to the island we were going to rent some bicycles or a golf car to head into the Put-In-Bay downtown area, but the island was so packed with travelers and tourists that day we had to settle for the bus. It's like we're all heading out on a school trip!

By the time we got onto the island we were all pretty hungry, but the girls made a quick stop first. Apparently it wasn't quick enough - Phil was caught red-handed eating a canole. But doesn't he look so fashionable with that purse? ^__~

Most of the restaurants were pretty full and we couldn't decide where to eat so we ended up stopping at a pizza/sub stand with some outdoor seating. By this time Su-Kyi finally warmed up to us. She even let me hold her! Isn't she cute?

After lunch we made our way to the Lake Erie Islands Historical Society Museum to take a look around and learn about the history of the islands.

The boys tried to figure out the map, but I think they had a little trouble...

The museum itself was fairly small, but every inch was packed with miscellaneous bric-a-brac...ok, so I really just wanted an excuse to use the word bric-a-brac, but the museum was really filled with some random stuff. Like this random captain's wheel. What are we steering towards nobody knows...

And what museum would be complete without a fake jail cell? Everyone took turns with their best jail face. May looks a little bit too happy to be in jail.

Even poor little Su-Kyi ended up in jail. Although she didn't seem to mind.

After spending some time in jail Su-Kyi decided to lounge around a bit. She looks so comfortable.

Behind the museum was an "antique shop". In actuality it seemed more like a collective garage sale for the inhabitants of the island. They had things from plateware and mugs to old school swimsuits and other trinkets. I think one of the oddest things in there was a giant gallon tub of aromatherapy massage formula...antique massage oil anyone?
Here are the girls carrying princess Su-Kyi into the antique shop.

Steve found some fancy ruby rings. Although from this distance they almost look like press-on nails...

Phil became quite attached to a walking stick with "Lake Erie" carved into the side. Here he is trying to look official.

And then everything digressed from there....

What more adventures lay in store for us in Put-In-Bay? Stay tuned to find out!
