Niagara Falls

Since it was late by the time we left Toronto, Mandy made plans for us to stop in Niagara on the way home. She still had some points left over from her diamond hotel status so she got us a nice suite with a view. We were supposed to get an upgrade to a suite, so we were surprised when we got into the room and it looked like any regular hotel room.

While Phil went downstairs to find out what was going on I let Calvin play on the bed. He looks so tiny in comparison to the bed.

He was very excited. This was his very first time in a hotel.

The actual room we ended up staying in was in fact a suite and it was HUGE! When you first walk in there is one bedroom with a king size bed.

Then there's a little hallway that leads into the other bedroom...

The hallway had a little kitchen counter/sink. The only thing that was missing was a mini-fridge.

Between the 2 bedrooms was a giant bathroom with a whirlpool tub.

And a glass window that looks out into the 2nd bedroom! There's Calvin enjoying the comfy bed and the nice view of the falls from the window.

Even though it's dark out they lit up the falls so you can still see them in the distance.

Calvin was happy as a clam (until he started getting sleepy...)

Before we put him to bed though we gave him a quick bath in the big whirlpool tub. We didn't turn on the jets because I'm pretty sure that would have scared him, but he seemed to enjoy splashing around. It's much bigger than the baby bathtub we use for him at home.

In the morning the view of the falls was much clearer.

Calvin of course was up bright and early. He slept on the pull out couch surrounded by pillows, just in case he decided to do any rolling in his sleep.

For breakfast we headed upstairs to one of the hotel restaurants for a buffet.

We got a booth, which was nice because it was soft and padded, and there were little corners where Calvin could sit.

Too bad it was a little foggy, so even though there was a view of the falls from the restaurant there wasn't really much to see.

They had the standard breakfast buffet food - waffles, sausages, bacon, various pastries. I think the highlight was the tater tots though, not many places seem to serve those anymore.

After breakfast we decided to walk to the falls and do some sightseeing while we were there. It seemed wasteful to be so close and not have a look. Someone passing by was nice enough to take a picture for us, but where's Calvin?

This is one of the two falls - the one that is closer to the U.S. side.

This was the second fall that stretches across. It looks like you can get up close to it from both the Canadian side and the U.S. side.

There was a "Niagara's Fury" sign, which I think was for one of the tours or something. Phil couldn't resist the photo opportunity.
