California Day 5 - Kayaking and Mini Golf

On our second day in Tahoe the cousins planned a kayaking trip. We started out the day with a nice big breakfast - french toast, scrambled eggs and fruit.

Then it was off to the kayaking site, a few miles down the road from the cabin. The view was beautiful.

You could see boats parked out in the middle of the lake. Apparently people paddle out to the boats in smaller boats since the water is too shallow by the shore. You learn something new every day!

I was worried my extra weight and lack of balance would make me tip over in the kayak - and I don't think anyone really wants to see a pregnant woman flailing around in the lake trying to stay afloat...So I watched the rest of the cousins get suited up in their vests and receive some instructions from the people at the kayak place.

Lea looks like she's armed and all ready to go!

They weren't even on the kayaks for a full minute and already Phil is slacking off and lounging in the back of his kayak. Poor Kevin has to paddle all on his own.

Eventually I think Kevin realized he was the only one rowing and instead decided to join Phil in his lounging.

Although, I'm not really sure what they were doing after that...Taichi kayaking perhaps?

And there go the cousins paddling into the distance...

Lucia and Ray had stayed behind with me, so after watching the other cousins kayak into the distance we drove down the road to a mini-golf place we passed earlier for a quick game while we waited.

The mini-golf place wasn't that big, but it had lots of "decorations'. Lucia even got to golf with a bear...Ok, so she's really just posing, but still...

Ray and Lucia in the man tree!

Our mini-golf game ended just as the other cousins finished their kayaking, so we all met back up and headed to lunch at a place called Rosie's Cafe, not too far from the cabin.

I'm not really sure what kind of decor they were going for, but it had a garage sale type of feeling - lots of random things hanging everywhere. I think that's an old school ski lift hanging from the ceiling...like I said, random things...

Phil with his cheese steak and chili. Apparently the chili was really good.

I ordered a hamburger, which ended up being more than I could handle. But that's why I keep Phil around ^__~

Group photo! That's Anna and Chris in the back - they couldn't make it, but they were there in spirit and on paper.

After lunch when we were heading back to the cabin we passed by a drug store that was having a going out of business sale. Pretty much everything was half off. But leave it to Phil to find something free...He found a jar of free blue lollipops, the dinky kind that you used to get at the doctor's office when you were little, that they were apparently letting people have for free. Phil commented on it to the guy working there and we ended up with an entire box of free blue lollipops...That's my husband...

For dinner we stayed in again and the cousins made lasagna. Yum!

And Lydia whipped up an upside down cake for dessert.
